With the aim of uniting innovation and competitiveness, Braskem, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas, presents, for the first time in Brazil, Braskem Amppleo, a polypropylene resin with High Melt Strength properties. The material will be exhibited at Feiplastic, the largest trade show of the plastics sector in Latin America, to be held April 3-7, in São Paulo.

The resin, which has been specially developed for high-performance production, is able to withstand temperatures up to 100°C without deforming and enables the manufacture of foam with a wide versatility of applications within a large density scale, which can range from 35 kg to 300 kg per cubic meter, presenting weight reduction compared to other materials and excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. Furthermore, the material can be fully recycled.

During a Feiplastic, visitors will have access to an interactive panel providing access to foam samples and explanations of where the Braskem Amppelo resin can be applied. "Along with our customers, partners and the final public, we wish to deepen the knowledge about the resin we have created. Having this interaction in the possibilities opens new paths for the product, always meeting the market demands," added Sergio Weiss, Account Manager for Polypropylene.

As research for resin development was conducted at Braskem's Innovation and Technology Center at the Triunfo Petrochemical Complex, in Rio Grande do Sul, and at the Pittsburgh Innovation Center, in the United States - which recently started operations as a pilot plant the production of foams. Braskem also seeks to establish partnerships for the development of new applications in the automotive, industrial, packaging, construction and appliance markets.
