Braskem presents resins for the shrink and stretch film market

This combination ensures high mechanical strength, transparency and productivity - key characteristics for competitive solutions - and are mainly intended for the food and beverage markets.

Braskem, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas, is presenting solutions to the Brazilian market, with polyethylene (PE) resins for the production of shrink films. The materials are exhibited at Feiplastic, the largest trade show of the plastic sector in Latin America, which will be taking place until April 7, in São Paulo, SP.

The solutions combine properties of the low-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (HDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) lines - resins already available in the Braskem portfolio - in particular the different types of LDPE and the Braskem Proxess line. This combination ensures high mechanical strength, transparency and productivity - key characteristics for competitive solutions - and are mainly intended for the food and beverage markets, where they are used for unitization (secondary packaging), protection and/or insulation of loads, ensuring integrity and safety in transportation, storage and distribution of products.

Another polyethylene resin of the Company is Braskem Flexus Cling, specifically developed for stretch film extrusion. The films are widely used by industries to protect cargo during transportation. The material is part of the Braskem Flexus line, one of the Company's polyethylene brands for films. This new product stands out for its high load retention and excellent grip performance, even at low temperatures. Flexibility and resistance to impact and drilling are highlights of the Flexus line solutions. These features provide customers with the necessary safety and results for good handling and transportation of cargo.

"Innovation is one of Braskem's main commitments and a competitive advantage for the Brazilian plastic industry. The new film resins show once again our ability to identify opportunities in the market and seek the most efficient and competitive solutions for our customers," said Marcelo Neves, Head of Flexible Polyethylene Application Engineering at Braskem.

The shrink and stretch film market is responsible for consuming 20-25% of the volume of polyethylene in the flexible segment in Brazil.
