Braskem's management and investments for the sustainable development of its operations were recognized by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Program) , a non-profit organization that selects the world's best publicly traded companies in relation to management of greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, and use of forests. The company remained in the entity's "A List," being the only Brazilian company with the maximum classification in the rankings on Climate, for three consecutive times, and Water, for the second time .

Engaged in having a responsible business performance, of the 7,000 companies evaluated, Braskem is among the top 126 companies that reached the A List on Climate and the top 27 A List companies on Water. In 2018, the rankings acknowledged 120 companies in the first item and 74 in the second. Worldwide, Braskem was among the 16 companies that achieved the maximum classification in both cases, of which only two are Brazilian and three belong to the chemical sector.

"Over the years, we have shared our experiences in sustainable development with the intention of engaging customers and suppliers, aiming to broaden the chain's contribution to economic, social and environmental development. Specifically, the CDP's recognition as an A List company reinforces our ability to cooperate with our partners for efficient water management and emissions reduction ," said Jorge Soto, Director of Sustainable Development at Braskem.

"I would like to congratulate all the companies who joined the CDP's A List this year. They are positioning themselves to provide solutions, seize new market opportunities and thrive in the transition towards a sustainable economy. We urgently need to intensify environmental action at all levels in order to meet the goals of the Paris Accord and the Sustainable Development Goals. It is clear that the business world is essential in this transition and that the companies on the list are prepared to make a substantial contribution to these goals," said Paul Simpson, CEO of CDP.

About the assessment
The CDP's assessment of pollution control, water resource management, and forest use by major global companies is among the most important and recognized in the world. Each year, the organization collects data on climate change risks and opportunities from more than 2,000 companies with activities on all continents. The CDP questionnaire evaluates, with grades from "A" to "D," questions such as "disclosure," "awareness," "management" and "leadership" of companies on gas emission and investments in actions to mitigate the level of pollutants released into the atmosphere, in addition to water consumption and the impact on the preservation of forests.
