Aligned with the commitment of value creation, Braskem aims at enhancing its profitability considering the opportunities of growth, the improvement of its productivity and competitiveness through innovation, expansion of the productive capacity, through operational improvements and diverse gains in synergy.
Among the decisions taken to create competitive advantages, there are the projects that have been developed in the last years to enhance the production capacity. These projects include the amplification of the PVC production in 50 thousand tons/year in Alagoas, the expansion in 130 thousand tons of the polypropylene production in Rio Grande do Sul and the production increase in two units of polyethylene in Bahia, each of them with an increase of 30 thousand tons.
Besides, projects of new industrial capacities focused on the leadership consolidation of the company in the continent have been carried out. Some examples of these projects are:
} Building of a new unit to produce up to 350 thousand tons/year of
polypropylene in Paulinia (SP) in partnership with Petrobras and expected
to start its operations by first semester of 2008.
} Installation of a new petrochemical complex in partnership with Pequiven, in
Venezuela, for the production of more than 1,3 million tons/year of ethane
and other petrochemicals of second generation.
} Building of a factory to produce 450 thousand tons/year of polypropylene
also in partnership with Pequiven, in Venezuela.
} Studies for the implementation of a new petrochemical complex in the border
of Bolivia, for the production of approximately 600 thousand tons/year of
polyethylene from natural Bolivian gas.
