The Porto Alegre Scenic Arts Festival, the most important in Rio Grande do Suls cultural calendar, sponsored by Braskem, arrives at Vila Pinto (CEA) on 9/11, where one of the largest pockets of poverty is located in Porto Alegre. Children and adults will have the opportunity to watch the childrens play entitled Argumas de Patativa. The presentation will be at 8:00PM at the Vila Pinto Environmental Education Center.
On 9/13, it will be Triunfos turn to receive a childrens play, the Valente Filho da Burra. The presentation will be at 4:00PM at the Municipal Theater.
The inclusion of these two places in the Porto Alegre Scenic Arts Festival was agreed upon with Braskem. The company supports the project to separate plastic waste at Vila Pintos CEA where a service was contracted to professionalize the operation.
The Porto Alegre Scenic Arts Festival will be held September 5-17. It will involve a series of theaters in the capital. There will be more than 40 presentations by groups from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Lithuania, Spain, Germany, Congo and Italy. One of the highlights was the presentation by Pina Bausch, a stand-out in modern international choreography, held September 6 and 7 at the Sesi Theater.
The festival opened on the 5th with a show by Rio Grande do Sul artist Adriana Calcanhoto that filled São Pedro Theater, the most traditional in RS.
Besides sponsoring the event, Braskem authored the proposal to promote an award at the festival that would reward local productions and promote interactivity between these groups and the public. And so the Braskem Scenic Arts Award emerged, one of this years novelties. Local productions compete for R$ 20 thousand for the Best Show and R$3 thousand for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director.
The winner will be chosen by a jury comprised of journalists and the public, which can vote for their favorite play by filling out the slips available wherever the presentations are held. The award will be presented on September 18.
