Whereas care with Health, Safety and Environment are basic corporate values for Braskem, each of the members must act according to the following principles:

1. The people are the only link able to keep Braskem on the path of corporate excellence, therefore, care with your posture, communication and management of your competencies will always be fundamental.

2. Each and every one is responsible for these HSE issues. It is up to the leaders to care for the exercise of this responsibility, underscoring that care with issues involving health, safety and environment are important for the evaluation of every member and must be taken into consideration in each and every decision.

3. Every action by a Braskem member is guided to achieve excellence in the Health, Safety and Environment issues.

4. HSE issues are always taken into consideration in relationships with all interested parties in our operations: customers, suppliers, shareholders, investors, government bodies, neighboring communities near our operational points and society in general. Communication shall always be appropriate and transparent.

5. We strive for the entire productive chain involving our products, from the extraction of natural resources to the disposal of the post-consumption product to consider improvements in health, safety and environment conditions. Only those suppliers and service providers in line with our view of excellence in HSE are qualified and maintained.

6. We care for HSE issues in the entire life cycle of our enterprises: from their basic conception to their eventual deactivation, and going through their design, construction, operation and improvement.

7. We believe every loss can be avoided, therefore, the prevention of accidents, disease, environmental impacts (pollution) and any other deviation, is always preferred. The search for Zero Accidents, Zero Diseases, Zero Impact resulting from Waste, Effluents or Emissions will always be pursued.

8. We manage all risks in our operations. Besides the risk prevention and control programs, mitigation plans are appropriately implemented. Insurance programs are always acquired when there are risks for losses that are above the business" absorption conditions. We do not produce, handle, use, sell, transport or discard a product unless we can do so in a safe manner with minimum impact on the environment.

9. Changes of people, installations, products or operational conditions are managed and only put into action if the new risk conditions are equal to or better than the original ones.

10. The performance in Health, Safety and Environment is followed both quantitative and qualitatively and must improve consistently with the objective of exceeding international standards, with the legal requirements as the minimum level of performance. Audits are used to accompany and promote the qualitative evolution.

These principles, appropriately applied, aggregate value to our business and help us achieve a balance between environmental development through eco-efficiency, social development through social responsibility, and economic development through operational excellence. We will thus promote Sustainable Development.
