Braskem has a new Vice-President of Institutional Relations
Braskem has announced the appointment of Marcelo Lyra do Amaral as the new vice-president in charge of the company´s Institutional Relations, replacing Alexandrino de Alencar, who is taking up new challenges at the Odebrecht Organization.
Alexandrino exercised that role since the creation of Braskem in 2002, with a prominent participation in the process of consolidating Braskem as a world class Brazilian company.
Marcelo Lyra do Amaral is 43, from Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais, with a degree in Electrical-Electronic Engineering at Bahia Federal University, having aimed his entire professional career at the communications area, with emphasis on the media sector. He was a director at the Globo Television Network in São Paulo, in charge of Relations with Affiliate Broadcasting Stations, and worked at Bahia Communications Network in two periods; first as commercial director and, until recently, as Media Business director.
Married and father of three, Marcelo has a post-graduation in Marketing at Unifacs Bahia and complementary training in General Management at Harvard Business School. He has been acknowledged for his professional performance when he was awarded with the title of Marketing Personality of 2004 by Propaganda e Marketing Magazine, as well as the Columnist Prize for Advertising Professional in 2005.
The executive will have the important mission of carrying on with the work for promoting and strengthening the Braskem image and the brand, within the context of a strong movement for company growth and its internationalization. "Marcelo combines a solid conceptual background with a rich practical experience in business administration and communication, including the marketing and commercial areas, and brings valuable skills for our advancement on the strategy of positioning Braskem among the ten main global petrochemical companies", said José Carlos Grubisich, company president.
