New PVC products in Brasilplast 2007
Development of processing qualities is Braskem´s spotlight in PVC
Braskem, the leader in thermoplastic resins in Brazil and in Latin America, launched five new PVC products in Brasilplast 2007. The resins, which present high innovation levels, which tend mainly to the markets of civil construction and infrastructure, toys, and shoes, to name a few.
Developed at the Braskem Innovation and technology center, Vila Prudente (SP), the new products and applications are the results of the strategic priority Braskem dedicates to the innovation and technology department in order to add more value to the company and increase the competitiveness of its clients. The new line of resins, produced with innovative technology, mark the evolution in the processing of PVC in the specific and traditional segments.
High plastifier absorption capacity
Braskem launched the Norvic® S80SA, a PVC resin of extremely high molecular weight and high plastifier absorption capacity. New in the Brazilian market, the new resin has characteristics such as flexibility, rubbery touch, excellent dynamic properties and resistance to traction, attrition and tearing. Hoses, shoes, flexible shapes, gaskets, films, insulating tapes and high performance laminates are some of the products that can use the new resin.
"For the applications we foresee for the next five years, the new resin has a potential plan of three thousand tons p.a. There is also the possibility of exploring the resin in the substitution of traditional materials such as rubbers, for example", reveals Antonio Rodolfo Jr., products and services manager.
Excellent processing
Another recent launching of Braskem in the area of PVC is the Norvic® SP 767 Processa+, destined for the civil construction and infrastructure market. The resin, as a priority, fulfills the needs of the hard piping market for installations in buildings and basic sanitation, and was also approved by the national Sanitary Foundation of the United States (NSF). Among the many advantages provided by the product, it is worth highlighting the best resin processing with power consumption economy, and the production of tubes with the best properties of mechanical resistance, especially shock resistant.
Special segments
High transparency and luster are the major characteristics of Norvic® P75LAT, a PVC resin to be used in synthetic leather laminates, floors, folders, labels, toys and wall papers. Another novelty is the Norvic® P70HAF, a resin of high viscosity and productivity, especially developed for the waterproofing of synthetic laminates. For the industry of adhesives, paints and varnishes, Braskem developed Norvic® CS49/15VA, a high solubility resin.
