Over 3,500 athletes participated in the
Braskem Half Relay Marathon 2007,
on September 30, in Salvador (BA). In all, a public of 15000 people esteemed the race, which counted on the presence of national and international circuit athletes, besides amateur runners.
Awards, trophies and medals were distributed, over R$ 60 thousand for the general winning teams in twos and fours, men’s, women’s and mixed.
Promoted by Braskem for the fourth consecutive year, the test counted on the organization of Yescom - Entretenimento Esportes Comunicação, a company specialized in organizing great street races in Brazil, such as the Marathons of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the International Round of Pampulha, in Minas Gerais.
InfrastructureTo guarantee safety and tranquility of the athletes and of the thousands of people that went to esteem the event, a vast structure was prepared, which counted on: massage tent, vip area, special security, besides, of course, support from hundreds of Military Police Officers, teams from the Fire Department, the Superintendence of Traffic Engineering, the Secretariats of Public Transportation and of Public Services of the State.
The Bahia Federation of Athletics, the Brazilian Confederation of Athletics and the International Federation of Athletics had a fundamental role in the success of the marathon, which had its course compared and homologated by AIMS - International Association of Marathons and Street Races.
Winning teamsAmong the winning athletes, the team from Bahia Multisport, composed by Jair José da Silva, Cícero Vieira da Rocha, Marcos Antônio Pereira and Jorgivaldo Oliveira Santos, won the men's foursome category, considered the most important of the competition, beating the strong Cruzeiro team, one of the favorites. The winning team concluded the race in 01h03min46, followed by the team from Minas Gerais, who crossed the line just five seconds after the champion.
Multisport doubled in the mixed foursome, winning with the team formed by Alberto Evangelista, José Evaldo, Jogivaldo Oliveira and Claudiana Ferreira. In second place was the team from Garanhuns and third place went to LCR Esportes. In the feminine foursome team from Bahia Hércules, composed by Giovana Santos Pereira, Vilma da Silva, Damiana das Virgens and Reneide Sacramento, won the race in 01h19min20. Second place went to the LCR Esportes team and third place to the Military Police team.
In the doubles, the Kenyans won in the feminine and masculine categories, with Kenneth Kiplimo and Charles Korir and with the women Eunice Jepkirui and Jacqueline Juotich. Na dupla mista os favoritos atletas baianos Marluce Queirós e Joelson Oliveira Santos venceram, deixando para trás José Henrique Coutinho e Andréa Rodrigues, e Cristóvão Balbino e Vera Lúcia Leite.
Among the people in wheelchairs, who competed individually, José Rocha Filho, Domingos Marinho and José Ramos Sampaio arrived in front in the category two wheels masculine; in the category two wheels feminine Daniele Oliveira Sousa won, in second place Angelina Nascimento da Silva and in third Nilza Santos. The competition also counted on a category of masculine three wheels, Carlos Roberto Oliveira winning, Osmar de Freitas Nascimento in second and then Paulo Antônio Santos.
