Prêmio Braskem de Teatro award nominees are disclosed
Braskem - a Latin American leader company in the thermoplastic resin market - has disclosed the list of nominees to Prêmio Braskem de Teatro 2008 award, for the best theater production in the state of Bahia, under 10 categories: Best play, best direction, best actor, best supporting actor, best actress, best supporting actress, best script, special category, revelation and best children play.
Awards Committee was made up with Paulo Cunha, Hebe Alvez, Adelice Souza, Vadinha Moura, Beth Rangel, Gilson Rodrigues and Hirton Fernandes, who evaluated 35 plays - 31 for adults and 4 for children - to list nominees. Winners will be known during the award ceremony held at Teatro Castro Alves next April.
For 16 years, Prêmio Braskem de Teatro award is a tradition in the cultural scene in Bahia and aims at valuing, reckoning and awarding theater production in Bahia, giving opportunity for new talents. This award started as part of the Social Responsibility Policy of Braken establishing focus on social inclusion, environmental education and cultural promotion to establish basis for conscience and to stimulate sustainable growth.
During its history, Prêmio Braskem de Teatro award helped to find talents in Bahia who today are nationally renown, such as Wagner Moura (revelation actor, year V, in 1997, on Abismo de Rosas), Márcio Meireles (Best Film Director, year VI, in 1998, with Um tal de Dom Quixote), also in the same year, Lázaro Ramos was nominee to Best Actor for its acting on Ópera dos 3 Reais, Vladmir Britcha (Best Actor, year VI, in 1999, with Calígula), João Miguel (Best Actor, Year VIII with Bispo, in 2001), and others.
