Innovations in plastic boxes for fruits and meat products
Developed by SOL Embalagens and Braskem, the boxes offer excellent cooling, high durability, innovative look at shelf and cleanliness
SOL Embalagens, one of the most important plastic processing companies in the national scenario, has developed and patented with Braskem a new concept of disposable boxes. It is an easy-to-assemble, 100% polypropylene box that offers excellent cooling and high durability, allowing reutilization with easy cleanliness.
For being weather resistant, the plastic boxes do not absorb humidity, unlike the material traditionally utilized in this market, which crumbles and becomes proper for microorganism proliferation. For being extremely light and having on-screen injection structure, the product favors the heat exchange for cooling, leading to lower power consumption, if compared to the boxes usually traded in the segment.
The target of the new product is the fruit/vegetable/poultry segment of high added value, for instance the exported products that have to fulfill stringent sanitary requirements. Besides this market, the boxes can also be utilized in many other segments in the domestic market, due to its versatility and quality, such as for meat products, as it offers considerable reduction of power consumption, which is made possible by an easier heat exchange, due to the screen that involves the box.
To obtain the ideal model of desired performance, SOL Embalagens worked for two years in researches with Braskem, in the company’s Technology and Innovation Center laboratories, in Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul. Besides the laboratory studies, the professionals worked with modern software and structural simulations until the end product was obtained. "As it enables lower freezing power consumption and better use of the transporter load capacity, offers easy and fast assembly and is fully recyclable after use, the plastic box is more sustainable than the other market solutions", says Márcio Baccan, manager of SOL Embalagens.
SOL is responsible for the production and trading of these boxes in the market and Braskem is the technology and research owner and supplier of the polypropylene solution. "This synergy was essential for the development of this innovative concept of boxes and certainly brings a new paradigm to the package market", bets Baccan.
