Braskem is aware of its role in society and participates actively in international forums and discussions with the aim of motivating and highlighting the participation of the industry in sustainable development and social responsibility.
At the global level, the Company participates in the executive leadership group of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), acting directly on groups that operate energy, climate change and chemical safety – issues that are part of their daily reality. The Company also operates directly in Brazil and is one of the founders and the leader of business associations such as the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) and the Brazilian Committee of the Global Compact.

Braskem is one of its founding companies. The Company participates in the Technical Board on Climate, being part of the Carbon Management Program for the Value Chain since 2013 and presiding two thematic chambers: Social and LCA Network.

The United Nations (UN) has created the Global Compact to strengthen the implementation of corporate social responsibility in the world. Braskem has been a signatory since 2007, alongside over 6,000 global institutions. In the following year, the Company joined the Brazilian Committee of the Global Compact.
It is a non-profit association dedicated to the promotion of recycling, focusing on integrated waste management. Created in 1992 and maintained by private companies, CEMPRE conducts technical research and seminars, it disseminates publications and organizes databases on reducing, reusing and recycling waste.
The Network was officially launched in October 2013 with the aim of disseminating the practice of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), promote training in Life Cycle Management to allow consumers to make more sustainable choices, and promote the creation the Brazilian database of life cycle inventories.
Launched in 2000, the initiative aims to collect and publish the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of more than 2,500 organizations in 60 countries. Since 2008, Braskem has reported its emissions to the CDP, as well as being one of the supporters of this cause.

The declaration is part of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and was established in 2004. Braskem was the first company in Brazil to sign this term, which disseminates environmentally clean production policies and the practice of sustainable production and consumption.

This methodology guides the process of preparing sustainability reports from companies and enables the reporting of relevant and reliable information on a consistent basis. Braskem’s Annual Report has evolved year by year and currently adheres to the Essential level of G4, the latest version of the GRI guidelines, covering all strategic issues for the Company and its stakeholders.
