Press note regarding lawsuit of MPT-AL

Maceió, July 25, 2019 - Braskem was surprised by a lawsuit of the Public Labor Prosecutor's Office in Alagoas (MPT-AL) requesting the blocking of resources in the company's accounts for possible labor compensations, as well as compensations to the residents of the districts of Pinheiro, Mutange and Bebedouro. This measure is excessive, considering that the company is adopting all the required measures to ensure the safety of the workers and the maintenance of their jobs, in accordance with the workers' unions. Besides, Braskem is a financially solid company that complies with its obligations and there is no reason for a compulsory blocking that may impact the operations and generate an effect that is opposite to the one intended by MPT-AL.

After more than 40 years in Alagoas, Braskem continues to have a responsible business conduct, bringing jobs, income and development to the region. An evidence of this is that even without the causes being known, Braskem continues to implement several voluntary emergency actions in the districts, prioritizing the safety of the community.

Braskem has been developing supplementary studies to identify the causes of the event and solutions to bring safety to people living and working in the districts. The studies are being followed by the authorities and will be concluded by the end of the year. Differently from what is being published, all the sonar examinations  so far show stability of the 15 mines evaluated, demonstrating again the need to find proper solutions  for the region when the entire diagnosis is complete.

We reiterate our commitment towards the Alagoas society and our contribution to identify and implement definitive solutions for the community.
