Our Purpose
Our purpose is to make people’s lives better by creating sustainable solutions through chemicals and plastics. Our long-term sustainability commitments called ‘macro-objectives’ were first defined in 2009 (2010-2020). In 2020, the macro-objectives were reassessed and renewed (2020-2030) in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 and the Paris Agreement. Our sustainability commitments include:

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in scopes 1 and 2 by 15%, by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Expanding our portfolio to include 300,000 tons of thermoplastic resins and chemical products with recycled content by 2025; and, by 2030, 1 million tons of such products.

Bio-based plastic
Braskem is the leading global producer of bio-based plastics. Our bio-based plastic is plastic made from sustainably sourced, sugarcane-based bio-ethanol which removes CO2 from the atmosphere and stores it in products for daily use.
