With the aim of creating innovative and sustainable solutions alongside customers, Braskem, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas, makes available to the raffia market the PG480 resin of the Maxio® line - an exclusive brand of Petrochemical Company, which brings together a portfolio of sustainability, technology, and innovation.

Currently, Zaraplast, a company specializing flexible packaging solutions, uses the resin in its production process, achieving gains of up to 15% in productivity, providing greater energy efficiency and performance of its lines.

"Braskem is increasingly focused on supporting customers so that they can become more competitive, helping them create products that allow a lower environmental impact, coupled with increased productivity. With the Maxio® line resin, we are able to interconnect the purposes and advance in different markets," said Nicolai Duboc, Polypropylene Engineering and Application Manager at Braskem.

The resin was designed for application in ultra-high-speed equipment, ensuring greater stability during production and an increase in the raffia processing capacity. The material will be on display at Feiplastic, the largest trade show of the plastic sector in Latin America, which will be taking place until April 7, in São Paulo, SP.

In 2016, the total sales volume of resins with the Maxio® seal was 103,000 metric tons, distributed among the 11 grids that make up the portfolio of the line. Some of the main applications are in household utilities (HU), rigid packaging, lids, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.

In addition to meeting one of Braskem's main pillars of innovation growth, the Maxio® seal was created to indicate the eco-efficient resins in the petrochemical portfolio, which provide customers with reduced energy consumption, increased productivity in the production process, and reduced weight of the final product, ensuring greater efficiency and, subsequently, environmental gains. The benefits are obtained thanks to the continuous evolution of the resins, preserving or improving the mechanical, chemical and optical properties of finished products. This line is yet another example that confirms Braskem's purpose of improving people's lives through sustainable solutions in chemistry and plastics.
