São Paulo, May 25, 2016 - The Forest Factory Institute (Instituto Fábrica de Florestas - IFF), with the support of the maintainers, Braskem, Cetrel - Odebrecht Ambiental and the Industrial Development Committee of Camaçari (COFIC), recorded the production of one million seedlings. The result achieved was due to the work carried out in the period from the establishment of the Institute in 2007 to last year. In the same period, the action accounted for the planting of about 600,000 seedlings.

Only in 2015, the IFF produced over 116,000 seedlings of native Atlantic Forest species. Of these, 39,000 were planted in the states of Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo. The action was also responsible for the training of roughly 1,000 people and promoting awareness among other 17,000 employees on the importance of environmental preservation.

The Institute is qualified in the category Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (OSCIP), headquartered in Eco Parque Sauípe, Bahia. Created in 2005 by initiative of the companies in the Camaçari Industrial Complex and the tourism industry in the region, it aims to address local environmental issues in an integrated and sustainable manner.

From 2012, with the success of the Forest Factory Institute in Bahia Institute and the sponsorship by Braskem, it began operating in other states, such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, through seedling nurseries called Nursery Schools. These nurseries are the result of the Forest Factory project and operate in the areas of environmental education and reforestation.

The Eco Parque Sauípe, acknowledged by UNESCO as a Biosphere Outpost of the Atlantic Forest, where the Environmental Education Program (PEA) is held. The program has served over 100,000 people and trained 3,000 teachers and community leaders. It is acknowledged nationwide, having won several major awards, including the ECO Award, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce, the CNI Ecology Award, sponsored by the National Industry Confederation, and Super Top Ecology Award, sponsored by the Brazilian Association of Sales Directors (ADVB).
