Braskem holds christening ceremony for the Blissful Future vessel in China and reinforces the modernization and sustainability of its maritime fleet

The third vessel incorporated into the Braskem Trading & Shipping fleet expands logistics capacity for naphtha supply and reduces maritime transport CO²e emissions by up to 30%.

Braskem held the christening ceremony of the Blissful Future vessel in China on Wednesday, August 26, marking the official incorporation of another ship into the naphtha fleet operated by Braskem Trading & Shipping (BT&S).

The event reinforces the company's fleet expansion and modernization plan. In the liquid transportation segment, the fleet now includes three vessels in operation (Blooming Future, Beautiful Future, and Blissful Future) and will be further expanded with the delivery of the Bold Future, scheduled for January 2027. The company also operates the gas carriers Brave Future and Brilliant Future, which are used to transport ethane.

"The christening of the Blissful Future is a moment of great pride for us and marks another important milestone in the Seas of the Future project. With this new vessel, we are further strengthening Braskem's commitment to logistics efficiency, increased competitiveness, and the reduction of emissions associated with global maritime transportation," said Hardi Schuck, who leads the project.

With a length of 228 meters and a cargo capacity of approximately 89,500 cubic meters, the Blissful Future combines high performance with environmental innovations. The new vessels were designed to reduce CO²e emissions by approximately 30% compared to the average emissions of the fleet currently operated by the company.

To achieve this level of eco-efficiency, the vessel is equipped with a high-efficiency main engine capable of operating with biofuels, as well as cutting-edge technologies such as a Scrubber system, which reduces sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions, and an SCR system designed to mitigate nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.

The vessel also features ultra-low-friction hull coating, VFD systems, and advanced propulsion solutions, including a Pre-Swirl Duct and a Twisted Rudder, which optimize navigation performance, improve operational efficiency, and reduce energy consumption.

LR1-class vessels play a strategic role in transporting naphtha to support Braskem's industrial operations along the route between the United States Gulf Coast (USGC) and Brazil. Once the four-vessel series is complete, it will have the capacity to transport between 40% and 50% of the company's naphtha import demand.
