Braskem participates in Expo 2025 in Japan

The company is present at the Brazil Pavilion at the event in Osaka, highlighting solutions from its I'm greenT bio-based portfolio.

Braskem, a global petrochemical company that develops sustainable solutions in chemistry and plastics to improve people's lives, is participating in Expo 2025 until September 5, showcasing solutions from its I'm greenT bio-based portfolio. The event is taking place in Osaka, Japan, and features the Brazil Pavilion to promote cultural and technological exchange with Brazilian companies.

The pavilion offers a vibrant and sensory environment that celebrates nature and innovation. In line with this concept, Braskem presents the strength of its I'm greenT bio-based portfolio. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about how the company's polymers enable a new generation of products with lower environmental impact.

"Expo 2025 is a platform to imagine a better future. At the Brazil Pavilion, we are showcasing how I'm greenT bio-based polyethylene supports carbon neutrality and the circular economy through innovative and sustainable applications," says Frederico Akira Campos, General Manager of Braskem in Japan.

The resins in this portfolio are made from sugarcane, a renewable raw material that helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining the same recyclability as conventional plastics. "This allows brands to advance in sustainability without needing to modify their production lines," Campos emphasizes.

Portfolio Applications

Braskem's I'm greenT bio-based portfolio is already featured in various partner products. See the details below:

EVA I'm greenT bio-based and ASICS:

  • Lower CO² emissions: The sugarcane cultivation used as raw material to produce the foam, with a negative carbon footprint, makes ASICS' GEL-LYTET III CM 1.95 the brand's lowest CO²-emission shoe.
  • Performance compatibility: I'm greenT bio-based contributes to the development of foams suitable for soles and insoles, offering comfort without compromising quality.
  • Transparency: Braskem supports ASICS' sustainability claims with evidence, as the CO² emissions of the shoes were calculated according to ISO 14067 and verified by an independent entity.

PE I'm greenT bio-based and bottle up:

  • Lower CO² emissions: Using I'm greenT bio-based helps reduce CO² emissions throughout the production chain.
  • Extended lifespan: bottle up aims to reduce disposable plastic waste and combat climate change without sacrificing convenience. Its bottles are lightweight, durable, and their prolonged use contributes to more efficient resource utilization and greater CO² reduction.

PE I'm greenT bio-based and Polytan:

  • High performance with sustainability: Polytan uses I'm greenT bio-based polyethylene in its world-leading synthetic turf systems-Poligras for hockey and LigaTurf for soccer and rugby. These surfaces combine sustainable materials with excellent sports performance.
  • Zero-carbon innovation: Polytan is the only company offering zero-carbon synthetic turf on a global scale. LigaTurf Cross GT Zero is the first zero-carbon turf for soccer and rugby, while Poligras Paris GT Zero-the only zero-carbon turf for hockey-was chosen for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, proving that significant carbon reduction and elite Olympic performance can go hand in hand.
