Braskem supplies raw materials and additives for the production of rubbers, used primarily in the automobile sector, in addition to products that serve the special rubber segments in medical applications.
We are one of the leading producers worldwide of butadiene, a raw material used in the synthetic rubber industry used in the manufacturing of tires and artifacts of rubber in general.
Braskem’s Unilene hydrocarbon resin is recognized for its high quality and is an excellent process aid. It has plasticizing effect benefits, reduces compound viscosity, facilitates load incorporation, reduces energy consumption and equipment wear, and does not alter curing kinetics. It is a tackifier and flow agent, demonstrating a good level of compatibility with a diverse range of polymers used in compositions such as SBR, SBS, EVA and others. It is also able to influence the processing properties and dynamics of the compound.
In partnership with Genomatica, a US biotechnology company, Braskem signed an agreement in 2013 to develop the technology and for the manufacturing of butadiene from a renewable source, sugarcane. The goal is to serve above all, the synthetic rubber market, today essentially supplied by naphtha-based butadiene.
