Do plant-based plastics compete or interfere with the food supply chain? No, they don't! 

It might seem like that the use of sugarcane for bio-based plastics could negatively impact food production. But Brazil has developed and honed its sugarcane production to efficiently use land, energy, and resources. Brazilian farmers now produce more sugar and ethanol with the same amount of crop. What's more, the sugarcane sector in Brazil is regulated in order to avoid negatively impacting food security.
