Karina Plásticos starts using Green Plastic in its product portfolio
The products of the "Karintox Eco" line are already available in the market and can be identified by consumers, by means of the "I'm greenT" seal.

Through a new partnership with Braskem, Karina Plásticos adds another product in its portfolio with Green Polyethylene I'm greenT for the wire and cable market. As an innovative company, Karina supports sustainability and renewable chemistry in the industry by choosing Green Polyethylene as its raw material, produced from sugarcane and 100% recyclable.
The products of the "Karintox Eco" line are already available in the market and can be identified by consumers, by means of the "I'm greenT" seal. A seal is the identification for products made with Braskem's Green Plastic.
"At a time when we are relentlessly seeking competitive conditions to survive in a complicated market and coming from a highly recessionary period, we have identified through this joint action with Braskem an important niche that will undoubtedly highlight KARINA in this industry that is so confronted by harmful situations to the environment, initially acting in the Wires and Cables market, in a halogen-free product, which now also contains in its formulation the raw material originated in a renewable product chain, certainly possible to perpetuate", highlights Edson Penido, commercial representative of KARINA.
During its production cycle, Green Plastics captures and fixes 3.09 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere for each ton of resin produced, helping reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. In addition, the resin of renewable origin retains all the technical and mechanical properties of the conventional plastic, with a fossil origin, which allows its use and recycling in the current structures.
"This partnership proves once again that the Brazilian industry and its customers are interested in innovative solutions that are even more sustainable and that add value to the end product. This new partnership with Karina shows that we are prepared to serve them with a broad portfolio", says Gustavo Sergi, director of Renewable Chemicals at Braskem.

About the Green Plastic
The I'm greenT Green Polyethylene is made from the ethane obtained from sugarcane. Its great differential is to contribute to the reduction of the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, as it captures carbon dioxide during its production process. It also has the same features of traditional polyethylene, that is, it does not require adaptations of machinery and is 100% recyclable. Braskem's Green Plastic plant has a production capacity of 200 thousand tons per year.
