LCA of post-consumer recycled resins: find out the main results:

The challenges surrounding climate change are at the top of large companies' global priorities and are also part of Braskem's sustainable development strategy.

This is so much so that in recent years we have intensified our long-standing efforts to achieve challenging goals , such as eliminating plastic waste and becoming a carbon-neutral company by 2050.

"Our post-consumer recycled resins (PCR) portfolio represents a consistent step in offering more sustainable solutions with plastic for our direct customers, indirect customers and society," explains Paulo de Mattos Coelho, Commercial Leader in Braskem's Circular Economy area in South America.

The potential of recycled resins: learn about the results of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

To measure the impact of our PCR resins in this context, we conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study and the results prove that PCR resins are an effective alternative for reducing carbon footprint by up to 48% compared to virgin, conventionally sourced resins.

The study evaluated several environmental impact categories throughout the life cycle of resins with recycled content and with recycled and renewable content, from the origin of the plastic waste to Braskem's doorstep.

Among the products in the portfolio, the innovative "Carbon Neutral" solution stands out for having no carbon emissions in its complete production cycle.
