Braskem's PVC now used to make doors that offer benefits for the construction industry
The company has joined forces with door manufacturer Pormade to develop and standardize its new line PVC Wood, which combines the beauty of wood with the resistance of plastics with applications in doors, doorframes, baseboards and door casings.

A key innovation driver at Braskem is offering solutions that improve product quality and drive business for its clients. With that principle in mind, the company has joined forces with door manufacturer Pormade to develop and standardize its new line PVC Wood , which combines the beauty of wood with the resistance of plastics with applications in doors, doorframes, baseboards and door casings.
According to Mônica Mattana, Vinyls Market application and development engineer at Braskem, the PVC Wood line has excellent potential to create value for construction and interior design projects, since it features products that are water-resistant, fire-repellent, termite-proof and lightweight, easy to handle and with high-end finishes.
"Since they are made from PVC, the products are more durable and as such require lower maintenance than conventional models in the market. The line has excellent potential, since it combines technical attributes with aesthetic qualities. Braskem's partnership with Pormade also is a way to contribute to the construction industry through an innovative solution," said the engineer.
To promote the product's use on a large scale, Braskem is supporting Pormade in its standardization process, which depends on approval by the National Technical Approval System (Sinat). To achieve that, the companies have engaged the Technological Research Institute (IPT), which is conducting the tests and will submit its opinion reports and samples to the agency.
"Today, we are still unable to use PVC Wood products in certain projects because of the lack of standardization. Once Sinat approves the standards, other items in the line should follow, expanding our market opportunities," explained Miriam Mayer, head of Pormade's Quality team.
