Braskem follows the guidelines of the European REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), which requires the identification of the composition, application and use of all substances exported to the continent.

Braskem’s adequacy to REACH demonstrates the Company’s commitment and attention regarding the market and people. The purpose of the standard is to establish a high level of safety to human health and the environment through the registration, evaluation and authorization of all chemicals marketed in the European Union. The criteria for products registration include the amount marketed and the risks they bring to health and the environment.

This regulatory system, in force since 2007, was approved by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. The implementation and management of REACH is the responsibility of the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), which is premised on ensuring that the records of the substances remain up to date regarding changes in composition, identification of new uses and applications or any changes in respect the production and marketing of the registered products.
