Braskem Celebrates Naming Ceremony of Blissful Future in China, Reinforcing its Efforts for Modern and Sustainable Shipping
The third vessel added by Braskem Trading & Shipping expands logistics capacity for naphtha supply and reduces CO² emissions from maritime transport up to 30%.

São Paulo, August 26, 2026 - Braskem (B3: BRKM3, BRKM5, and BRKM6; NYSE: BAK; LATIBEX: XBRK), the largest polyolefins producer in the Americas and global leader in the production of biopolymers on an industrial scale celebrated the formal name of Braskem Trading & Shipping's latest vessel, Blissful Future in China August 26. This official addition of another vessel to the Braskem Trading & Shipping (BT&S) naphtha carrier fleet is a milestone in the development of the project. In the liquid transport segment, the company now has three vessels in operation (Blooming Future, Beautiful Future, and Blissful Future), with further expansion set for January 2027 with the delivery of the Bold Future. The company also operates the gas carriers Brave Future and Brilliant Future transporting ethane on a route between the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.
"The christening of the Blissful Future is a moment of great pride for us and marks another important milestone in the Seas of the Future project. With this new vessel, we are putting into practice Braskem's commitment to logistics efficiency, increased competitiveness, and the reduction of emissions associated with global maritime transport," says Hardi Schuck, the project lead.
The Blissful Future combines high performance with environmental innovations at a length of 228 meters and a cargo capacity of 89, 500 m3. These new vessels are designed to reduce CO² emissions by approximately 30% compared to the average of the fleet currently operated by the company. To enable this higher level of sustainability, the ship features a high-efficiency main engine capable of running on biofuels and is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, such as a scrubber system to reduce sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions and an SCR system to mitigate nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. The vessel also features an ultra-low-friction hull coating, VFD systems, and advanced propulsion solutions-such as a Pre-Swirl Duct and a Twisted Rudder-that optimize navigation performance, thereby increasing operational efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
The LR1-class vessels play a strategic role in transporting naphtha for Braskem's industrial operations, serving the route between the U.S. Gulf Coast (USGC) and Brazil. Once completed, the series of four vessels will have the capacity to handle 40% to 50% of the company's naphtha import demand.
