Braskem delivers new Basic Health Unit in Flexais

- The Basic Health Unit complies with the Ministry of Health criteria and will provide primary care.
- The structure was delivered to the city of Maceió with more than 200 furniture items.
Maceió, April 7, 2025 - The new Flexais' Basic Health Unit (UBS) has just been delivered to the local community. Located on Ladeira Professor Benedito Silva, it will offer primary health care, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The UBS was built following criteria established by the Ministry of Health to ensure quality and accessibility, using the "Steel Frame" method, with treated galvanized steel profiles, and featuring thermoacoustic walls and roofs, ramps, tactile flooring, and spaces adapted for people with disabilities.
With a total built area of 390 m², the facility includes 234 pieces of furniture, including hospital beds, dental chairs, countertops, refrigerators, shelves, microwaves, cabinets, chairs, tables, armchairs, benches, and others.
The project is part of the 23 socioeconomic measures defined under the Urban Integration and Development of Flexais Project. This initiative stems from an agreement signed in October 2022 by the Municipality of Maceió, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, the State Public Prosecutor's Office of Alagoas, the Federal Public Defender's Office, and Braskem.
Invited by the Flexais Project, residents visited the new space. "I'm going to use the UBS together with my mother. Having a healthcare center so close to home will change my daily life for the better," celebrates 62-year-old housewife Vanilma Ananias."I was very curious to see the UBS. Now I'm happier with the Flexal Project because it's been improving from what I've seen, and I have faith it will improve even further," she adds.
Public services, spaces for socializing, and commerce
In addition to the basic care unit, the new local daycare-school has also been delivered. Of the 23 planned initiatives to reduce socioeconomic isolation and boost the local economy, 16 have already been implemented, with the remaining projects in progress, such as the public lighting requalification, with new lamps and network modernization.
Other Flexais Project initiatives include the requalification of Tobias Barreto, Faustino Silveira, and Praça Nossa Senhora da Conceição streets, the construction of a Shopping Mall and Fair Space, the Fishermen's Support Center, and the installation of a pier for access to Lagoa Mundaú.
Alongside ongoing construction, various measures are being implemented, including urban cleaning, pest control, surveillance, a dedicated and free bus route for Flexais residents, school transportation, and psychological support services. Security cameras have been installed, and the Flexal Space has been structured to accommodate municipal departments that provide direct services to the community.
Indemnity
Braskem has been compensating residents and traders in the region as part of its commitment to the Flexais Project. In February, the Financial Support Program (PAF) reached 99.8% of compensation paid to families, residents, and merchants. In total, BRL 49.8 million have been paid by the Company.
