Programa de Apoio aos Animais

Pet Support Program

Created to take care of the pets of families in the neighborhood affected by the subsidence phenomenon that is part of the Financial Compensation and Relocation Support Program, Braskem developed the Pet Support Program in concert with the Research and Extension Group on Equidae and Integrative Health of the Federal University of Alagoas (GRUPEQUI-UFAL). This initiative meets demands from the community itself and takes into account observations made by animal support entities.

The Program includes temporary accommodation (during the move or while the resident is in the temporary property), castration, veterinary treatment, vaccination, and transport care on the day of the move, and on the way to and from the temporary accommodation location. Campaigns promoting responsible pet ownership are also conducted.

In addition to residents' dogs and cats, stray animals are also supported with strategies for sterilization, return or referral for adoption, health control, and monitoring. The measures are scientifically effective for public health and animal welfare.
