Centenário Square Hosts Pet Adoption Fair
Focinho Responsável initiative promotes responsible adoption of dogs and cats
Maceió, May 27, 2026 - Focinho Responsável will host another dog and cat adoption fair next Saturday, May 30. This time, the meeting point for animals looking for a new home and their future adopters will be Centenário Square, in the Farol neighborhood. Visitors will be welcome from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Arthur Oliveira, coordinator of external activities at Focinho Responsável, explains that the initiative aims to connect the community with rescued animals waiting for a new family while encouraging responsible pet ownership. "People will have the chance to get to know some of our pets a little better, learn about their habits and personalities, and find a companion that matches their lifestyle," he said.
The animals available for adoption have already been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and given veterinary care. The Program also provides free transportation to the animal's new home and clinical support during the first three months after adoption.
To help ensure a smooth transition, interested adopters may choose an adaptation period of up to three days before making a final decision. If the adoption is not confirmed, the animal safely returns to the Program and continues to receive proper care and support.

The channel regularly shares updates on the animals currently in care and their characteristics.

Commitment to Animal Welfare
"Focinho Responsável" is part of the Animal Support Program, a partnership between Braskem and the Equine and Integrative Health Research and Extension Group at the Federal University of Alagoas (Grupequi-Ufal). The initiative was created in 2020 to support families relocated under the Financial Compensation Program (PCF) and has, for the past five years, provided temporary shelter, veterinary care, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services. It has also rescued abandoned or stray animals found in vacated areas. Currently, the Program cares for 457 animals, mainly dogs and cats, some of which are available for responsible adoption. Since its creation, Focinho Responsável has organized 36 adoption fairs and participated in several educational and community outreach initiatives, helping 1,069 animals find a new home.
