Cultura em Movimento Grant Program Extends Application Deadline

Over 100 grants available for Popular and Afro-Brazilian Culture initiatives

Maceió, January 22, 2026 - The "Cultura em Movimento" Grant Program has extended its application deadline. Interested applicants now have until January 30 to submit their proposals and compete for one of 104 available grants. Initiatives related to Popular Culture and Afro-Brazilian Culture are eligible to apply. Grant amounts range from BRL 15,250 to BRL 30,800, depending on the selected category. Applications must be submitted through the official website: www.editalculturaemmovimento.com.br .

The official website also includes a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section to address common questions. Applicants may also contact the program by email at contato@editalculturaemmovimento.com.br or via Instagram @editalculturaemmovimento. Individualized assistance is available through an in-person help desk from Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Espaço Flexal, located in the same building as CRAS Bebedouro. Remote assistance is also available by phone at +55 82 98750-0573. Appointments are required for both in-person and remote support.
 

About the Program

The "Cultura em Movimento" Grant Program supports expressions of Popular and Afro-Brazilian Culture, including traditions such as Guerreiro, Pastoril, Bumba Meu Boi, Maracatu, Capoeira, and Afoxé. Each applicant may apply to up to two categories, but will be awarded funding in only one.

Evaluation criteria include the group's track record and years of cultural activity, project accessibility, its contribution to democratizing cultural access, and alignment with traditions recognized as intangible cultural heritage.

This initiative is part of the culture and memory preservation axis of the Socio-Urban Action Plan (PAS) and aims to support and promote traditional and artistic expressions in Maceió.

About PAS

The Socio-Urban Action Plan (PAS) stems from studies outlined in the Socio-Environmental Agreement, signed by the Federal Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and Braskem, with the participation of the State Prosecutor's Office (MPE) and the Municipality of Maceió. It includes more than 40 initiatives, ranging from the construction or renovation of daycare centers, markets, public squares, and health units, to broader actions in the cultural, social, economic, and urban development fields. Some actions are carried out by the company; others by Maceió's local government. The budget is BRL 198 million - adjusted annually.
