PAS Project Provides Professional Development for Municipal Mental Health Care Network

"Integra RAPS" is a partnership between Braskem, through PAS, and the Municipal Health Department.

Maceió, July 8, 2026 - Maceió's Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS) has been strengthened through the "Integra RAPS" Psychosocial Care Enhancement Project. The initiative includes activities aimed at enhancing professional qualifications and establishing standardized work processes. The project is conducted by a specialized company contracted by Braskem through the Socio-Urban Action Plan (PAS), in partnership with the Municipal Health Department (SMS).

As part of "Integra RAPS", professionals from the city's Psychosocial Care Network, including multidisciplinary teams of physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, are receiving training to strengthen the delivery of comprehensive, person-centered care. The training program also promotes stronger collaboration between the RAPS network and eMulti teams, expanding integration between Primary Health Care and specialized mental health services with an emphasis on shared care.

Training topics include mental health, primary care, women's health, older adult health, as well as the organization and integration of team workflows. The initiative includes Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS) located in the Farol, Serraria, Jatiúca, Jacintinho, and Bebedouro neighborhoods. Staff from the Novo Jardim CAPS facility, recently delivered to the municipality through PAS, are also participating in Integra RAPS.

According to Raineldes Melo, Braskem's Social Initiatives Manager, the project's phases were designed jointly with the Municipal Health Department's technical team to ensure the initiative addresses the actual needs of both the healthcare services and the communities they serve. " Initiatives such as 'Integra RAPS' reflect one of PAS's key distinguishing features: going beyond infrastructure projects to deliver services that truly make a difference in people's lives," she said.

"Integra RAPS" Structure

"Integra RAPS" is organized around two core components: Shared Work Processes and Training Modules. The first component is already underway, focusing on strengthening the capabilities of RAPS teams while establishing standardized work processes.

As part of the Shared Work Processes component, professionals from both the Psychosocial Care Network and Primary Health Care participated in Territorial Planning Workshops, where they developed territorial maps identifying healthcare facilities, social services, and local support networks within their service areas. This was followed by the Individual Therapeutic Plan and Matrix Support Workshop, which reinforced the importance of these tools in care planning and patient follow-up.

Teams also reviewed their work processes and collaboratively developed demand flowcharts during the Risk Stratification and Care Flow Workshop. The closing workshop for the Shared Work Processes component will take place in July, marking the completion of the activities planned under the project's first component. The Training Modules component is scheduled to begin during the second half of 2026 and will focus on delivering specialized training programs for RAPS professionals.

About PAS

The Social-Urban Action Plan is established under the Socio-Environmental Agreement, signed by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and Braskem, with participation from the State Public Prosecutor's Office (MPE) and the Municipality of Maceió.

PAS includes initiatives ranging from the construction or renovation of daycare centers, markets, public squares, and health units to broader actions in the cultural, social, economic, and urban development fields. Some of the actions are executed by the company; others by Maceió's local government. The plan's budget, funded by the Company and updated annually, totals BRL 198 million. The PAS is structured around four areas of focus: social policies and vulnerability reduction; economic activity, jobs, and income generation; urban and environmental improvements; and preservation of culture and memory.
