Pet Adoption Fair Comes to Jaraguá This Saturday, September 12

Event promotes responsible pet adoption; all animals are already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed

Maceió, September 11, 2026 - Focinho Responsável is holding another edition of its pet adoption fair in Maceió. This Saturday (September 12), the event comes to the Jaraguá neighborhood, promoting responsible pet ownership and connecting dogs and cats in need of a home with their future families. The event will take place at Mercado das Artes 31 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Before being made available for adoption, all pets receive veterinary care and are vaccinated, dewormed, and spayed or neutered. The program also provides free transportation to the pet's new home, as well as free clinical support during the first three months after adoption.

To help with the adjustment process, families have up to three days to get to know the pet before making a final decision about the adoption. If, after this trial period, the family decides not to adopt, the animal is safely returned to the program.

Program benefits:

4. Safe return to the Program if the adoption is not confirmed.

Partnership with Ufal

"Focinho Responsável" is part of the Animal Support Program, a partnership between Braskem and the Equine and Integrative Health Research and Extension Group at the Federal University of Alagoas (Grupequi-Ufal).

Since 2020, the initiative, created to support families relocated through the Financial Compensation Program (PCF), has provided temporary shelter, veterinary care, vaccinations, and spaying and neutering services for pets. The initiative has also included the rescue of abandoned and stray animals in vacated areas.

With 41 adoption fairs held to date, as well as participation in several educational and community initiatives, the program currently cares for 421 animals and has already found new homes for approximately 1,100 dogs and cats.
