Trilhas da Infância Project Concludes Training Program for Professionals Working with Children in Maceió

Socio-Urban Action Plan initiative brought together municipal staff from the healthcare, education, and social development sectors

Maceió, September 23, 2026 - Professionals from Maceió's education, healthcare, and social development sectors took part on Tuesday (September 22) in the Closing Forum of the Trilhas da Infância Early Childhood Professional Development Project. Held at the Rosaly Leão Gomes Municipal Early Childhood Education Center (CMEI), in the Cidade Universitária neighborhood, the event marked the completion of an eleven-month program of training activities, knowledge sharing, and the development of integrated solutions aimed at improving services for children served by the municipal system.

Trilhas da Infância is part of the Social Policies and Vulnerability Reduction pillar of the Socio-Urban Action Plan (PAS), provided for under the Socio-Environmental Agreement entered into by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and Braskem, with the participation of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Alagoas (MPAL) and the adherence of the Municipality of Maceió. The project was developed collaboratively through the establishment of a Working Group, in which the technical teams working in early childhood services identified their needs.

During the closing forum, professionals shared their experiences, discussed proposals developed throughout the training program, and reflected on how the knowledge acquired could be applied in practice. Among other activities, the program featured a panel discussion and a presentation on Brazilian childhoods and public policies for intersectoral care, delivered by Mariana Mickhaela Oliveira, General Coordinator for Federative and Network Articulation of the National Integrated Early Childhood Policy at the Ministry of Education (MEC).

Mariana highlighted the importance of integrated initiatives such as Trilhas da Infância . "When we bring managers and professionals together for cross-sectoral dialogue, through a process of collaboration and listening that considers the child as a whole, we contribute to building more effective public policy and are able to act more effectively in that child's life," she emphasizes.

The Forum also brought together other nationally recognized professionals working to coordinate early childhood policies, including Soraia Melo, coordinator at the Executive Secretariat of the National Early Childhood Network (RNPI), and Elisângela Mercado, a professor at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL) and member of both the National and State Early Childhood Networks.

According to Paula Raquel, Braskem's Social Initiatives Specialist, projects such as Trilhas da Infância reinforce the Company's commitment to remediation efforts. She also highlights the importance of the initiative in helping improve the training of professionals working in public early childhood services in the Municipality of Maceió. "Coordination across sectors, a shared perspective, and recognition of frontline professionals enhance service delivery through an intersectoral approach, making care more comprehensive. Seeing these professionals complete the training with new tools and a broader understanding of their role confirms that the Trilhas da Infância Program is fulfilling its mission of contributing to the improvement of comprehensive early childhood care," she says.

The technical training project provided professionals with training focused on deepening their understanding of contemporary early childhood issues. The training was grounded in comprehensive care, the strengthening of cross-sectoral collaboration, and a place-based approach, while also taking into account the context of the evacuation of neighborhoods due to land subsidence, the integration of theory and practice, and the use of active learning methodologies. The project placed the day-to-day challenges of public services at the center of its activities and created opportunities for the collective development of possible approaches and solutions.

"The project sharpened our perspective and awareness of the people we serve, bringing different areas closer together so that we can provide better care to children and families," says Rafaela Soares, Technical Advisor for Pedagogical Monitoring of Early Childhood Education for the Municipality of Maceió.

" Trilhas da Infância was important in helping us identify the needs of the early childhood population, strengthen dialogue, improve communication with other healthcare services, and determine the best ways to intervene. As a result, care for children improves and referrals are more appropriate," says Alison Santos da Rocha, a psychologist at the Orla Lagunar Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center (CREAS).

Other PAS Initiatives

In addition to the Trilhas da Infância project, the Socio-Urban Action Plan includes a range of initiatives involving the construction or renovation of daycare centers, markets, public squares, and healthcare facilities, as well as measures in the cultural, social, economic, and urban planning areas. Some of these initiatives are implemented by Braskem, while others are carried out by the Municipality of Maceió. The updated budget, funded by the Company, is approximately BRL 260 million.
