Vila Saem to Get New Multipurpose Space for Sports, Recreation, and Community Activities

Braskem-funded project is part of the Socio-Urban Actions Plan (PAS)

Maceió, September 11, 2026 - The Vila Saem community, in the Pinheiro neighborhood, is set to receive a new Multiuse Space designed to expand opportunities for sports, recreation, and community activities in the area. The initiative is part of the Socio-Urban Action Plan (PAS) and was developed with input from local residents. Construction began in September, with completion and delivery expected in early 2027.

The project includes a range of facilities for community use, including a soccer field with fencing and bleachers, renovated locker rooms, a multi-sport court, a walking track, an outdoor fitness area, a playground, and an area designated for cultural and community activities.

Plans also include urban amenities such as tables, chairs, and trash receptacles, as well as lighting, landscaping, sidewalk improvements, and accessibility features for people with reduced mobility. The project will also include the renovation of the prayer shrine dedicated to the community's patron saint, Our Lady of Sorrows.

The start of construction is bringing new possibilities for families such as that of homemaker Daiane Nunes de Barros. As the mother of an autistic person, she sees the revitalized space as an opportunity to promote social inclusion for people with disabilities. "Children, especially autistic ones, need places where they can socialize with other children. So we're very happy because this project will make that possible," she says.

According to Anderson Amorim, president of the Residents' Association, the new multipurpose area will bring a number of improvements to Vila Saem. "Our homes will increase in value, our residents will have a reason to smile again, we'll have a proper space for children and older adults, and our soccer field, which used to be dirt, will now have artificial turf. For us, this is a dream coming true and the beginning of a new chapter," he says.

Multipurpose Space in Bom Parto

In June of this year, Braskem delivered the Bom Parto multipurpose space to the Municipality. The project is also part of the Socio-Urban Action Plan (PAS) and was built on a 5,500-square-meter site. The space features a soccer field with bleachers, accessible locker rooms and restrooms, a walking track, an outdoor fitness area, a playground, tables and benches, as well as a pavilion designed to host community events. The renovation of the former square on Ladeira José Cardoso da Silva, known as Ladeira do Trovão, has also created more opportunities for recreation and social interaction among local residents. The square received new landscaping, benches, and tables, as well as a renovated altar honoring the neighborhood's patron saint, Our Lady of Good Delivery.

Other Projects in the State Capital

Through PAS, Braskem has already delivered new public facilities in different areas of Maceió. In Cidade Universitária, a Municipal Early Childhood Education Center (CMEI) was built with capacity to serve up to 600 children from birth to 5 years and 11 months of age. A Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment (CAPS AD III) was also built and equipped to serve up to 45 patients per day. The neighborhood will also receive additional initiatives, including the construction of a new Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS).

In Bebedouro, a renovated and fully equipped 775-square-meter building of historical significance was delivered to the Municipality to house the neighborhood's CRAS facility. In Ponta Grossa, construction of a new CMEI is underway. Additional projects are currently being planned.

The PAS includes initiatives ranging from the construction or renovation of daycare centers, markets, squares, and healthcare facilities, as well as cultural, social, economic, and urban development measures. Some of the initiatives are executed by Braskem; while others are carried out by Maceió's local government. The updated budget, funded by the company, is approximately BRL 260 million. The Social-Urban Action Plan is provided for under the Socio-Environmental Agreement, signed by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and Braskem, with participation from the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Alagoas (MPAL) and the Municipality of Maceió.
