Braskem's green plastic is now incorporated into the new packaging developed by Zandei for its protective hand creams (personal protective equipment) and for the sunblocks made by Luvex, Brazil's leading manufacturer of barrier creams for workers' skin. With the initiative, the company becomes the first in the industrial protection industry to adopt plastics made from renewable resources for its packaging. 

Green plastic is made from ethylene derived from sugarcane ethanol. Its main advantage is that it helps reduce greenhouse gas air emissions, since it sequesters carbon dioxide during its production process. It also features the same properties as traditional polyethylene, which means that manufacturers do not have to change their machinery and that it can be recycled. To help consumers recognize the green plastic, Braskem created the "I'm greenTM" seal, which guarantees the renewable origin of the packaging.
