Braskem is included for the second time in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index Emerging Markets
Braskem was included once again as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, the sustainability index for companies from emerging markets of the New York Stock Exchange. The portfolio, which was launched earlier this year, is composed of shares of 81 companies, of which only two are chemical producers. Of the 81 companies, 17 are Brazilian. Braskem's continued inclusion in the index attests to the company's commitment to expanding its contribution to sustainable development through good practices of corporate governance and social and environmental responsibility.
The largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas and the world's leading biopolymer producer, Braskem has also been a component since its launch of the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of the BM&FBovespa - Securities, Commodities and Futures Exchange. The ISE was launched eight years and is composed of the stocks of companies considered benchmarks in the area of sustainability. Braskem is also a component of the Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2), also of the BM&FBovespa, which is formed by shares of companies that are components of the IBrX-50 index that have adopted transparent practices with regard to their greenhouse gas emissions.
"Growing sustainably while focusing on excellence in environment, health and safety is one of the company's strategic guidelines. Since its creation, Braskem has sought to strengthen its business strategy by improving its products, services and processes and by seeking, together with its client chain, solutions for society in the context of sustainability," said Jorge Soto, sustainable development director at Braskem.
